During Christmas there are a few songs that we sing about bells and we usually make our own bells. I add small bells that I have had for years, probably 10 -12 years...and other than that I didn't really know what to do with them. How did I not think of this before?! I saw this idea on pinterest and went out in search of more bells!! Really, bells are just so much fun! The children had fun separating them and shaking them and listening to their different sounds. And then I added magnets to bells... Fun times...now I need more bells!!!!

I found some plastic candy canes at the Dollar store and they inspired lots of fun activities. I first had them in my blue bin (water table/sensory bin). The children used them to fill containers and hang on a small tree that was in the bin. They were moved to our classroom tree, found in the kitchen and passed out as Christmas presents when we played Santa. I used them during circle time for counting games, measuring and making shapes. And what would candy cane fun be without eating candy canes!! We talked about the colors on the candy canes and how or if we could make the color disappear and we talked about how to make the candy canes themselves disappear. It was agreed that eating the candy canes would make them disappear but we decided to try warm water as well. And then we added candy canes to water.... And finally a candy cane craft, of course! We painted puzzle pieces and then arranged them in to patterns. |
