We have spent a lot of time discussing the signs of Spring however it can be difficult to see the signs when they are covered in snow!! Ha! Ha! So we have all decided that when it comes to spring, sometimes we get all the weather; rain, snow, sun and wind. Spring starts off messy but it turns beautiful. Here is a great book that illustrates this perfectly. ![]() The little boy in this story starts off wearing lots of warm clothes and then gradually in each picture he is wearing less until he is in just shorts and t-shirt. The pictures are very brown and uninteresting until everything is in full bloom. A great book to show all the changes that happen in Spring. ![]() This was another experiment to show the power of the wind. Each child brought in two items; one they thought that could be blown by the wind and one that would not move in the wind. We divided them into groups and then tested their theory with the blow dryer. We tried it with strong wind and with a weak wind (breeze). Most of the class thought that the small yellow item (a train) would not move in the wind but one child said it would because of the wheels. We had a lot of fun discussing this and then trying to move it on it's wheels and then turned on it's sides. There was also a little discussion about powerful winds; hurricanes, warm winds; chinook, and turning winds; tornados.
