Everyone was asked to bring in two pairs of mittens. During circle time, we counted how many mittens and then we counted how many pairs. We talked about what a pair is and about matching. As a game, I took one mitten from each pair and hid it in the classroom. The children had the other mitten and then had to find their match. When they had the pair they could come and hang them on the clothesline that we had hung. We talked about the clothesline that was used in the book The Hat by Jan Brett. We pretended that we were airing out "our woolens". And of course for a craft we made mittens... I drew the mitten shape and then each child printed their hand and then cut out the shape.
